Because in previous years I used to always go up to the plot super early in the morning and start off at one end and give everything a quick weeding before I got on the main jobs. By 10am I would normally be finished and on my way back home for some mid morning breakfast. For some reason I have not been doing that for some time now and it’s mostly visits to do something specific and never visits to just potter about. I blame work.

I changed that this weekend and went up at 8am with the purpose to do nothing but weeding and pottering, plus a bit of watering. I took a flask of coffee too, something I also haven’t done for ages.

The amount of bindweed with the raspberries, it took me ages even though with my Hori Hori knife I simply dig the roots out. I know they will come back but less so each year… I keep telling myself. I didn’t manage to get to the other end of the plot where the potatoes have died down and are waiting to be all dug up. I’ll weed before I dig them.

Apart from that, I gave everything a good watering before heading off back home to mid morning breakfast. Waffles and bacon.
