Super windy with cold and rain yesterday and sun with blue skies today. I was surprised to see the blue netting covering the fruit bushes was still attached and on the plot, it had blown off but a couple of corners were stopping it flying across the site. I recovered the fruit bushes, fighting against the wind, and tied it down.
It was hot but would had been much nicer without the strong winds and so I didn’t stay too long. I planed out the remaining borlotti bean plants that I had saved just in case slugs caused damage on the first lot. I also filled gaps in beds that had nothing in them with squash plants from the mystery tray which I know I had sown each of pumpkins, butternut squash, and courgettes but had forgot which was which. I had a slight idea from the actual plants but it will still be a surprise. I only have these extra plants as I didn’t think the first lot were ever going to germinate, they did, and so now I have extra
I did general weeding and hoeing but did not stick around. I did bring home:
- strawberries
- raspberries
- broad beans
