I have a mixture of onion sets, overwintered onions from seed, also onions from seed sown the other month. A lot of onions and different ways of growing them, I’ve got lots of onion seed to use it seems. Today I planted out the onion sets and the remainder of the overwintered onions from seed, that fives just about five rows. The onions from seeds are in little clumps of three to four plants and so I am expecting smaller onions from those. The onions from seed sown the other month are ready to be planted out but I will leave them to fill in any holes over the coming weeks of any that do not make it in the ground. I also have the option to plant a row at home too. For the ones I planted at the plot, I recovered with netting to hopefully stop the allium leaf minor.
I hoed around beds, tidied bits up. I also extended the bed that will be used for potatoes next month, digging into the path and removing a lot of bindweed root as I did.
