I was quite surprised the other day when I took a look and noticed green shoots of the potatoes.  Planted the other month with the idea to get new potatoes on Christmas day, I had decided nothing was going to come from it.   The appearance of the green leaves has given me hope then that there is something happening under the soil.

It should be more than possible to achieve all this given the correct conditions.  I am thinking if I keep it from getting too damp and too cold then it may work for us.  It is currently at the end of the garden where the last autumn sun hits during the day.  A bit later I will move the pot nearer the house to protect from the constant rain and then the bitter cold if it should come.
