Back to the Plot – Take Two

It’s been a busy year so far, unfortunately not at the plot. Between constant rain and other things going on, this is only the second visit so far this year. Not a problem as actually there was not much tidying up to do, just hoeing and weeding. I tied up the broad beans which have done quite well considering the constant wind and rain. I had sown a batch of broad beans in pots to fill up any holes and to plant some in the garden.

I thought the cabbage and curly kale may had gone to seed but actually all were ok and we were able to bring home:

  • white cabbage
  • curly kale
  • beetroot
  • daffodils
  • parsnips

Tom pulled up the remaining beetroot which I shall make beetroot pickle out of. He also pruned the raspberries and the small apple tree that had small branches blocking the pathway.

We have plenty left to do on the next visit, which hopefully won’t be as long. We need to tidy up where the swede had been and weed/tidy up around the purple broccoli, and some more weeding.

This weekend we got some seed potatoes and onion sets to put in later on in the month.
