Monthly Harvest June 25

June 2025

No records broken for temperature in June although the heatwave alert did trigger near the end of the month. The month just warmer as it got near the end and we enjoyed long hot days

We picked the last of the radish, I don’t went to grow them during the hotter months as they bolt too quickly and so that may be it for the year. We had a lot of new harvests, not only starting with the soft fruit but also spinach which this year I have chopped up and frozen, also peas we have been both eating raw and freezing. Spring onions we pull as we need them, we are not going to have the best harvest due to squirrels digging them up.

Cherries we are giving a lot away as there are too many to know what to do with, I’m also a bit worried about getting through all the blackcurrants. I would freeze them but the freezer is full of last years.

The strawberries are from the garden only, the ones on the plot did not do that much due to be transplanting them a bit late I would think. The garden strawberries are just a small container what we don’t get too much from each year apart from now when they are going a great deal for the small size. Eating a strawberry straight off the plant, warmed by the sun, if only we had a tennis court we could be able to complete the scene.
