Rain is forecast later this week and so today seemed a good time to plant out the french beans and tomatoes in the garden. Both have been growing in cell trays outdoors undercover and were more than ready to be planted out. The french beans join the runner beans which I sowed the other week direct in the ground and are just starting to show. I sprayed them all with Graze to keep slugs off.
The tomatoes I planted means the lower bed is now full for the year with tomatoes, peas, beans, and a bonus end row of potatoes. I covered the tomatoes with the new black netting which will keep them safe from squirrels until I they grow large enough to be able to put up with being dug up.
We need to harvest the radish before they go to seed and also to make space to plant out the celery and extra spring onions. The row of carrots is more like a couple of patches of carrots, I’m hoping a further and final sowing I did last week will show. Not a successful year for carrots unlike last year.
