Garden drought but good potatoes

The garden has been hit hard by the lack of water and the hot temperatures. The beans have suffered and I doubt we will get much of a harvest from them as the leaves are mostly dried up and yellow. The potatoes though, a complete opposite from the bad harvest on the plot, nearly 4kg from just five plants which is what I would be expecting normally. To demonstrate the difference between garden and allotment, 4kg from five plants in the garden again 2kg from around 10 plants on the allotment.

We have been every other day picking:

  • carrots
  • beetroot
  • some spring onions

Lots of early morning watering each day going on….
