Planting out in the garden

The onion sets we planted the other week are all starting to grow. I planted out lettuce and the children helped putting out the broad bean plants and potatoes. We may have a broad bean overload this year (we had none last year) and I’m only really growing them in the garden as well as the plot as they look good and the children will enjoy podding the beans when the time comes.

The bushes in the garden really need trimming and actually one of them is now way too large for the garden and so this year might be the year we get rid of it. A shame as it blocks out the houses behind us, but we have a pear tree that might replace it if we can get it all out of the ground.
