Netting and weeding

After all the wind and rain for the whole of last week I was wondering what I would face at the plot, no damage or anything bad amazingly. I did a lot of weeding and hoeing, something I have not done too much lately. I pulled some of the funny small carrots and picked some apples. I really thought the apples would had been blown off the tree but they were not.

The rain and warm weather has helped things grow, the cabbages and kale and the pumpkins were all a lot bigger than they were on my last visit. The purple sprouting plants needed staking up which meant I needed to change the netting to something a big bigger to cover it all.

After last visit when I had to quickly water the young turnip plants before they dried up and died, about half of them have survived, a bit annoying. The leeks don’t seem to be growing much, but the pak choi has and is looking like it is about ready to pick.

At home I’m picking tomatoes regularly and I finally sorted out the onions that I pulled up last month, tidied them up and bought them indoors. We have already eaten a lot of them/most of them, a mix of large onions (from sets) and smaller ones (from seed).
