Christmas New Potatoes

A little story of success! We found an old potato on the back of the cupboard (not a seed potato but one from Tesco or Asda at some time), so we didn’t have a clue what type of potato it was or what would happen. We planted it and on Christmas Eve we dug it up. As you can see, the plant was more than dead when it came to digging up thanks for two or three days of frost and snow.

We could never say that our Christmas potato harvest would feed a nation, but for one non-seed potato I think we did pretty well and had a small collection of fresh new potatoes for Christmas day!

A great success then, and possibly something we will try again next year and plant a lot more.
