Monthly Harvest March 25

March 2025

March was both hot and cold. It matched 2023 as the coldest recorded at 1.1c and broke records for the warmest at 16.2c. Looking at the graph, it started cold with a rare record breaking hot day and by the end of the month it was constantly warming up.

We picked what we could from the purple sprouting, the plants never recovered from caterpillars and so only had a couple of meal’s worth of harvests. A bit of a shame as normally we are picking so much it is hard to keep up eating it all. We were cheered up by our first pickings of rhubarb. I also “harvested” daffodils for the first time seeing as we have a number of clumps of them that grow in the plot. I noticed in the shop that a small bunch costs £1 and so I started to bring home our own bunch each week, and was still able to leave lots at the plot.
