Uncovering beetroot

The black netting has done a good job at keeping squirrels off and it is good in that you don’t really see the netting as it’s black and so fine but with holes big enough to let insects through. The beetroot has grown too tall for the netting now and so I have uncovered it to set it free.

We have celery plants growing (first time ever) along with:

  • beetroot
  • carrots (not many)
  • spring onions (not too many)
  • sweetcorn
  • spinach
  • tomatoes
  • cucumbers
  • potatoes
  • peas
  • runner beans
  • french beans

The pulled the final lot of radish, we have probably eaten enough radish now for this year.

Our black currant push has plenty on it while the strawberries on the decking have many green strawberries which hopefully we will get to before squirrels do.

The planting we did at the base of the fence on the decking has really taken off and now gives height and separation within the garden plus a bit of a jungle feel.
