Suddenly, everything grew

After long hot dry days we have had lots of rain, and the garden has loved it. In just a week everything looks different and bigger.

We are picking

  • broad beans,
  • radish,
  • lettuce

The broad beans at the allotment have come to an end (overwintered) and while there are beans on the ones in the garden there are not many just yet. The plants have grown but they are not massive like I would expect.

French beans and runner beans are starting to climb, the normal problem with slugs which means some gaps. I have planted some more french beans direct and hope to see them showing up sometime soon.

Potatoes are loving the weather and doing much better than the ones on the allotment, it’s more sheltered in the garden. They have been showing pink flowers this week.

I have planted tomato plants within the lettuce and radish, they are a bit swamped at the moment but soon the lettuce and radish will be gone and they will have all the room they need.
