A lot of weeding after an afternoon of heavy rain followed by sun and warmth again. Spotted one parsnip seedling, not going to fill us up so hopefully some more may follow. It’s old seed and so I would not be surprised if not much comes up.

I picked young broad beans which were nice to eat raw, straight out of the pods. Strawberries I mulched with compost to help prevent them getting too dry. I’m not expecting much this year but maybe next year if they don’t suffer too much we will get strawberries once again.

Potatoes I banked up, did lots of weeding, and feel I need to really weed and remove the undergrowth coming in from the field the other side of the fence.
