Potatoes are go…

Busy weekends coming up, and cold weather plus snow (I’ll believe it when I see it) forecast over the next week and so I made use of the nice early evening weather to put in a couple of rows of potatoes. We have Charlotte and Maris Piper. I will plant out another two rows mid April for some second early ones and then anything left over will make up a row in the garden. Last year potatoes in the garden did better than the ones on the plot I thought, the effects of a “walled garden” protected from the wind and having a bit of it’s own warm micro climate in the summer. The allotment gets full on sun all through the day which is sometimes too much for the plants.
