Prepping the beds

Give it a couple of weeks or so and I’ll be planting potatoes and onions, I thought this morning I would prep the beds which will give them a couple of weeks to settle down. The main area I wanted to sort out was where the gooseberry bushes used to be which has been left since Christmas time. I just needed to give it a bit of a shallow dig and rake over to level off. I carried this on with the rest of the plot which took no time at all. Not really digging (as I did that the other month), but hoeing and raking to leave a flat bed ready for planting into. March is a good time of the year, you can tidy things up and make a start and it’s still too cold for weeds to appear all over the place, everything is clean and ready to go.

I came home with some leeks, while on the window sill at home I have this year’s leeks all coming up in seed trays.
