Late night digging

On week to go until the clocks change, suddenly evening visits become possible. Even this week, with recent good weather, I was able to spend some time after work. I mainly wanted to prep the ground for potatoes to be planted at the weekend. I emptied some tubs of homemade compost and lightly dug it in.

It’s nearly time to end bonfires and so I took the opportunity to burn some odd bits that would not compost. I left it smouldering but want back later on in the evening just to make sure all was ok. The allotment at night time was quite an interesting place.

This week I sowed tomatoes in seed trays. Meanwhile, spring onions and leeks sown the week before have all germinated.
