I started this the other week, creating a frame and netting for the strawberries. The idea here is not so much to keep the birds off, although it will, but to keep the mice out or at least make it a bit harder for them. The local mice love strawberries, we found that out the other year when I found a dead mouse surrounded by all (my) mouldy strawberries. The idea of the frames is close off access around the strawberry bed which has wooden sides. The bed is not square so the two frame are “bespoke” and fit only one way round, split into two in order to make it easier to lift off. I was quite pleased with the result, the new staple gun made it quick and easy to put on the netting.
I came home with:
- the last lot of leeks
- rhubarb
